Stone Winter Bridge

"I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape.
Something waits beneath it; the whole story doesn't show."
- Andrew Wyeth

If you do not know of the work of Andrew Wyeth I would highly recommend looking him up. Wyeth was a realist painter whose subjects were the land and people around him. He was from Pennsylvania but has strong ties to Maine as he had a summer home in Cushing. This quote seemed particularly meaningful right now as it has been a cold and trying winter across the Maine. Though I would not say I prefer winter and fall, as I really enjoy every season, winter does draw me in to the details and the simplicity of the features surrounded by the snow.

On a recent trip to Acadia National Park, I trekked into the carriage trail network via the Stanley Brook entrance and photographed the bridge once on my way in and again on my way out of the park.
